EXECUTIVE COACHING
A client of mine told me once, “If you’re green you’re growing. If you’re ripe, you’re rotting.” He was stating his agreement with the importance of continuous learning for those in executive or leadership positions. As leaders choose growth and learning they prepare themselves for the future. If they choose the status quo, leaders allow the competition to widen the gap.
Areas of Learning:
- Relationships
- Communication
- Getting results
The coaching conversation explores:
- How well you are building relationships.
- What you may or may not be doing to buildup or tear down a healthy environment.
- The impact you are making on organizational and personal communication
- Why you get the results you do, either good or bad
As a coach, I will assist a client to specifically define what he or she wants and help them develop several viable solutions, prioritize them, and act on them.
My role will not be to tell a client what to do, but rather help them clarify, and explore the options to make better decisions to accomplish their goals of gaining greater performance and / or balance in life.
I will encourage a creative, partnering dialogue in which the client can hear himself/herself think and invent his or her own new and exciting goals and plans.
Development & Succession Planning
Development is more than a human resource function, it should be adopted as a business strategy.
If talent is at a premium then it makes sense to develop the talent we have rather than to go outside the organization and buy some. It may very well be that the talent we buy is just making a stop in your company on their way down the road of success.
The potential of any person by nature is not static, it can continue to grow. The more a person develops the greater their potential success. While their potential is increasing through personal development, the more they will be inclined to stay. That is a WIN/WIN strategy.
Speaking for himself and his three direct reports, a client said: “They all benefited with your coaching and are contributing at a much higher business level then where we started in 2006.
I personally have been able to gain a confidence by which I can focus on activities that move me in a career direction at the next management level. Having a developing trustworthy and competent management team under me has allowed me to stretch out into new challenging areas without compromising the day to day business activities.”
